It had to be done. Everything had been going to plan until the meddling Commander Erwin stepped in.

You and Annie had it all worked out and then came Eren, suddenly a titan shifter. At first glance, you thought you might be able to get Eren to join you. But then it become clear who's side he was on. You would have preferred him to be taken by the military police instead of the survey corps because it was a hitch in your plan.

But you and Annie worked around it. Two titan shifters who'd found each other, finishing the business started before you. You were both there in Trost, shifting into your forms to complete a mission. It was simple and you'd both shifted back before anyone noticed. They called Annie "the Female Titan" due to her titan form's distinct female features. They called your titan form "the Green Eyed" titan for your titan form's blazing, noticeable green eyes.

The day of the expedition you and Annie headed out of the military police compound to follow the scouts. She shifted into her titan form and began her work finding Eren. You followed her in pursuit with your assigned squad. Then came Commander Erwin in the forest, and Annie was trapped. You remember feeling panic but then remembered that you and Annie had planned out what to do in such situations.

She called forth the regular titans and they devoured her body. Thus she escaped. You remembered that quick eye contact you two made before you had to retreat. Then in the chaos, you'd split off from your squad and caught up with Annie. You both shifted and followed Eren's squad.

One thing you had not accounted for was Levi. You'd entered the trainee corps with a clear goal in mind. Captain Levi had appeared a few times and you two had spoken a few times. Then more. And more. And suddenly you felt like you may have had feelings for the stoic captain. You cursed and scolded yourself for it, but could you help it? You didn't know if he felt the same way, but he broke it off not too long before anything could progress further. A smart move for both of you. Him for not getting involved with anyone while holding onto such a precarious position as the captain of the special operations squad and Humanity's Strongest at that, and you for reverting all your attention to the one goal you really had in this life.

When you returned back after the expedition, they began to suspect who the female Titan was. You were there to hear them discuss it and listened in to the plan. The day before their plan to catch Annie was to be executed, you took your chance and told her what they were going to do.

Which is why she knew what Armin was trying to do. Why she'd put on her ring before following him. Then that's where it all went to hell. Eren shifted into his Titan form and they fought right there in the city, two titans in the center of what was left of civilization. You wanted desperately to aid Annie but how would you? You'd only make things worse if you shifted. Not only would you reveal your identity with your suspicious absence, but you would cause countless meaningless deaths for a slim chance at escape. For the good of your goal, you restrained yourself.

And they caught her. That damned Mikasa took her down right up against the wall and Eren went completely insane, almost killing her himself. So Annie had no choice but to encase herself in crystal. You watched from the roof of a nearby building as the soldiers relentlessly, desperately swung at her crystallized form with their swords, with no result.

But you had to finish the job. You were in a room inside one of the buildings inside the inner city. It was dark and with only a desk, a chair, a dresser with a small mirror, and a single bed inside. You were supposed to be on patrol for the military police, but came here instead, where you and Annie had plotted for the past few months.

You stood from sitting position on the chair and walked over to the dresser. You pulled out your darkest shirt, a pair of tight black trousers, and a dark overcoat. You laced up your uniform boots. Walking over to the mirror, you began to braid your (h/c) hair back. You were doing to do it. Find Annie and rescue her. Then escape out of the city. Even if you ended up caught like Annie, you had to try. There was no point in staying here and without Annie there was nothing you could do. Silently, you hoped too many people wouldn't die today.

Just as you were finishing tying your braid you heard the door open behind you. In the reflection of the mirror you saw who it was. Levi.

You lowered your hands but didn't turn around.

"Going somewhere, (y/n)?" He asked, not moving from his spot.

"Would you mind closing the door, please?" You asked in a cool, even tone.

He obliged, stepping in and shutting the door behind himself. You noticed he was wearing his uniform, along with his 3-D gear...and his blades. You kept your back to him, watching him through the mirror. The look in his eyes was intense.

"It's a day off, Levi. You should be enjoying your time out." You said, not blinking, feeling the sudden thick atmosphere.

He ignored your words. "Do you know where we're keeping Annie?" He asked. Down in the government building. Two floors underground. Behind a door guarded by two soldiers in 1 hour shifts. Cell 14.

"I don't." You replied. "Has there been no progress with her?"

There was a moments silence. "No." He said. Leave Levi...you don't need to see this.

"In any case," You continued. "You should enjoy your day off." You angled your head to the side to watch him, still keeping your back to him. "Or just stay away from the main town, today." Wrong choice of words.

Faster than you could imagine, you heard the screech of metal as he pulled out one of his blades and angled it towards you, horizontal to the floor, like a barrier between the two of you. Ah.

You gave no response, didn't dare move a muscle, though your heart rate began to increase. "Does anyone know you're here, Levi?" You asked.

"Tell me it's not true, (y/n)." He said. So this was it.

"How long have you known?" You asked.

"Are you the Green Eyed titan, (y/n)?" He demanded.

You finally turned around to face him fully. He was tense all over, his eyes were boring into yours, no hint of that infamous boredom on his face, replaced instead by intensity.

No point in denying it now was there? "I suppose I am." You answered simply.

He gritted his teeth and tightened his hold on his blade. "It's over, (y/n). You've been caught. Let go of this madness. Alright?"

"I'm afraid I can't do that."

"Damn you, (y/n)! Why? I don't understand! Why are you doing this?"

"No, you wouldn't understand. Not until its over." You threw your hood over your head. "Just walk away, Levi. Forget what you saw here, and no one will need to be hurt."

You saw a glimpse of pain in his eyes and flinched at your words again. Of course you'd already hurt more than enough people, his own squad included. You had no right to say no one would be hurt. He let out a sound of frustration. He stalked over to you and your muscles tensed as you readied yourself to defect any blows - but none came. Instead, he put a hand on your cheek. Your heart tightened. Damn him... why did he have to come here...?

His voice was quiet. "Please...I'm begging you, stop this." You felt your throat contract.

Your heart was hammering. You were split between two sides. You were in love with him. Maybe he was the only person in the world who you'd ever loved. Every breath you took felt like betrayal. But...how could he understand? How could he ever understand that you were doing was for the good of humanity? He wouldn't ever understand. "Does the commander know?" You forced yourself to say.

He shook his head. "I didn't tell anyone about this. There's still time. You can turn away from this, join me. Join humanity." His hand fell to the front of your jacket and he balled his fist in it as though he could physically force you to turn away from what you were going to do.

Your gaze lifted. You couldn't look him in the eye. Instead you looked to a point on the door. "It was all worked out you know? Everything we'd been doing, everything was according to plan. The only thing unaccounted for...was you, Levi."

His teeth were clenched together, eyebrows furrowed. His head lowered a little as his face faced the floor. You kept looking directly passed him. You have to do it...You have to do it...

"Go Levi. Leave. Stay away from the town hall. Listen to me, please."

"No...I'm not letting you."

You blinked at your tears. Damn him... Tears threatening to spill, you pulled out your hidden knife. Before you could raise it, he saw it and grabbed your hand, twisting it away and you let out a cry.

With your other hand you threw a punch at him. It connected, but not very well, because he recovered very quickly and made a grab at you. You spun away pushing away from him, though your balance was off and he took the opportunity to hook his leg behind yours and pull, making you fall back.

You landed with a thud on the floor and before you could get back up his hand was twisted in your shirt. He threw a punch that connected with your face. You felt the pain spread through your skull but were to pumped with adrenaline to really notice. You grabbed the arm that was holding you and pulled at his weak point, the elbow.

His arm bucked and he fell forwards. You took the opportunity to land a punch on his face. He fell back. You were breathing hard, heart contracting with what you were doing. It was wrong - all of it. You loved Levi, but you were hurting him. Why did it have to be this way? You saw the fallen knife from the corner of your eye. You twisted and reached for it but he was on you again, straddling your hips. With one final stretch you grabbed it and swiped it upwards. He pulled back just in time, though a line of blood appeared on his cheek.

Your heart wrenched. You did that. You made him bleed out.

He lost his balance and fell back. You lunged at him and this time you were on him, knees on either side of his hips, wrists pinned, and your knife at his throat. He slackened, the fight leaving him.

The only sound was the mixing of both your breaths coming fast.

Your eyes were locked with his. Why...

His steel grey eyes were piercing yours. Why...?

A tear drop fell onto his face. Am I crying? Though his face showed no sign of sadness, his eyes did. Why did it have to come to this?

Your knife clad hand was shaking. Your heart was hammering. Was it worth it? Was it worth never finding love again? Could you do it?

You looked into his eyes again as you pressed the knife closer to his neck to keep him from moving. Could you do it?

With a shudder and a fresh wave of tears you leaned your head down to his chest, leaning your forehead against it. Feeling his slowing breathing.

No.

You couldn't do it.
So I decided to write something from the perspective of someone like Annie, who may be good inside but is an enemy of the survey corps.
(Yes I know there are somethings that are not in the anime, but use your imagination :D
This is set right after Annie is captured.
SnK and the preview photo do not belong to me.
Hope you guys liked it!
